Nathaniel LeavittNathaniel was born 27 Dec 1727, the first Son of Joseph Leavitt and Mary Wadleigh, in Deerfield, NH. He was the 4th generation of the family of John Deacon Leavitt. Nathaniel served in the early Colonial War and it is assumed he served in the Revolution since all able bodied man were required to do it, but there is no definite record of that fact. He was married to Lydia Sandborn in 1756, the daughter of Jeremiah Sandborn and Lydia Dearborn of Sanbornton, NH. They live in Exeter where all of their children were born. Together they had twelve children, nine boys, Joseph, Moses, Jeremiah, Nathaniel, Dudley, John, Josiah, Jonathan and Stephen and 3 girls, Lydia, Hannah, and Polly or Mary. In 1793 they moved to Grantham, NH on Leavitt Hill. Nathaniel died on 18 Feb 1824 in Grantham, Sullivan NH. |
