Gary Lyman Leavitt
Under Construction Gary Lyman Leavitt was born on July 25, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah the first born son of Lyman Ollerton Leavitt and Lynnette Young Leavitt. Later a brother John Michael Leavitt "Mike' was born on December 29, 1943 and a sister Lynne Ann Leavitt March 8, 1951. Gary and Mike were very close and Gary included him whenever he went anywhere with his friends. They both worked at Anchor Boat and Steel, their dad Lymans business during their teenage years. As a family they shared many happy years on fishing and boating trips. Often they would go to Jackson Hole three times a summer, Pinedale Wyoming, Island Park, Idaho and Manila at Flaming Gorge. It became a tradition to visit these places in the summer when the children were home. The family would usually be accompanied by one of Lyman's brothers or close friends on these summer trips. They most always took a boat and camped out in tents and trailers a lot of the time. Gary went to West High and was Seminary President his senior year. He went on a mission to England and Wales in the 1960s and returned to marry his high school sweet heart Karen Bingham on 9/8/1964. They weere married 46 years until Gary's death on December 8, 2020. Gary and Karen had five children Dan, Julie, Mike, Neal and Nate. He is survived by his wife Karen, his five children and his siblings J. Michael Leavitt and Lynne Leavitt Valdez. He is also survived by 14 Grandchildren and one great grandson. Gary also was interested in Leavitt genealogy and was a board member of WALF (Western Association of Leavitt Families) for many years. Gary was devoted to his family and Church and started several companies in the computer software field ending with CUSA, Inc, which developed software for Credit Unions throughout the nation. He had over 1000 credit unions using his software. Cusa had many employees and Gary shared much of his profits with them. On December 8, 2020 Gary died at the age if 78 suddenly from Intestinal problems. He is well loved by all his family and friends and will be missed. he was a great brother to me and I will miss him.( Mike Leavitt Brother)
